Sword of Shannara is an action novel in which the two Ohmsford brothers, Flick and Shea, along Allanon, a powerful Druid (human with longevity and can shoot magical beams of fire out of his hands) with a group of friends (Dayel and Durin, cousins of Eventine, the elf king, Menion Leah, the careless but adventurous prince of Leah, Hendel, a dwarf battle-hardened by years of fighting gnomes, Balinor an accomplished swordsman) to find the Sword of Shannara, a fabled sword that has the power to destroy the Warlock Lord from destroying everything in its path. I liked this story because it is the story most people would like to read about, like Harry Potter, or Brisingr.
This book has a lot of twists and turns in it. Once you think you know what's coming up, the story twists and you have to guess more and more. This book is also one of the books that are about a group of people journeying to find an item (Sword of Shannara), where there is action and some killing. Then in the end, like a lot of good books, there is about a page and a half of explanation by the wisest person in the group. This book is also great because it doesn't just hurl a bunch of characters at you, but start off with one and gradually go up to eight people. It's also very descriptive and descibes places very realistically.
The part I don't like about this book is that it is adult fiction, which means it had very small print and alot of pages. It has pictures (about 5-8) that take up a page and there his not a lot of dialogue, or when there is, it's usually a long explanation about something. Some pages are just one long paragraph that looks a lot and just wants to make you skip it, but a lot of stuff usually is in that paragraph that is important. Some parts of the book is really confusing, like when they are describing something in the middle of a scuffle or battle and you lose track of what's happening.
